hi all , well wot a weekend went friday lunch wanted to fish pit 4 but got there and all pits frozen apart from pit six. But didnt want to risk fishing it incase it froze over through the night so we fished the trent i had some knocks on friday night but nothing showed. The only fish caught was a 3lb chub ( why the f*%$ i didnt take any deadbaits lol ) but anyway i`d just like to add that i was abit disappointed with the lack of respect for steve from some anglers that go to A1 with the amount of rubbish left like old umbrellas just thrown on the bank and black bin liners full of rubbish just left in the bushes . We always take our crap home and try and clean up others crap to as it gives fishing such a bad name it dosent take long just put ya crap in a bag and take it home . Anyway thanks for ya help steve we`ll be back soon

Hi all, just thought I would fill you in on my lastest session on the river. I took a friend who is new to angling to try and catch his first barbel. We were plagued by bream all night!!! I honestly lost count of how many we banked but on the plus side he was able to catch his first river bream so all was not lost! A tactical bait change saw us start connecting with the barbel and he managed to catch his first barbel a lovely fish of 6lbs 10oz...not a monster but his first ever so it was mission accomplished!!! In total we caught plenty of bream and 12 barbel with the biggest fish going a touch over 9lb. I put out a rod intended for a zander but was surprised by a beaut of a pike which weighed 17lb 11 oz...also lost a smaller zander near the bank...may have gone 6lb if I was to guess its weight. Also had two missed short runs on the predator rod and I think they must have been zander who felt resistance and dropped the bait! All in all a great night out and I will be back soon if the fishing continues to hot up which I suspect it will!!! Would be great to hear from you fellow river men...tight lines all!!! PS: I have put a few pics up of my pike and of my mates first barbel & bream!

hi all:biggrinthumb: just thought id tell you about my recent trip to the fens.
i had planned to fish the ouse on the kingslynn association stretch, however, after a chat with the very kind baliff he reccommended i should try a place on the middle level near neeps bridge. so, i set up camp and spent the next four nights there. wow it was tiring, id never been to the fens before let alone fish it and so didnt really know what to expect.

on his first cast my dad had a low double ( about 12lb's)on but unfortunatley it came off and he didnt get another sniff the rest of the trip.that was on legered roach so i soon changed my baits!:whistling: for the first night we didnt get a bite but luckily the balliff had reccomended a good coarse fishing spot a few pegs down where we could collect livebait. big rudd, roach and very large perch soon followed.PERFECT!;)

the next few days were a complete success and i caught numerous pike(but unfortunately no zander, as that was one of the reasons we went to the fens!). i had a 4lb, 5lb, 7lb and 9lb on a float paternoster livebait rig and a 7lb on a legered roach bait. but, the highlight of the trip was a new pb pike of 17lb!:thumbup::yikes: caight on legered roach. it was a terrific fish and a hard fighter too. "it hugged the bottom like A PAIR OF HOT PANTS"

so over all a successful trip, i am planning on going once more just before xmas to catch that "elusive zed". I have also planned a trip to the a1pits stretch of the trent soon. hope it is fishing well. bye all and may you have a wet net soon:thumbup:

P.S if you liked this article and would like to hear more or have critisicms on it please comment

P.P.S I am happy to say all pike were returned live and well to fight another day:biggrinthumb:
